Longshot Challengers and the Limits of Party Strategizing

Party-centric campaign fund allocation has helped to overcome the collective action dillemas which resulted in inefficient allocation of resources under the old candidate-centered “free-for-all” fundraising system (Jacobson 2010). This approach is not without pitfalls.
